MIK-LUGB-C Intelligent anti-vibration vortex flowmeter

  • FAQ

1. What is the MIK-LUGB-C intelligent anti-vibration vortex flowmeter?

The MIK-LUGB-C is a velocity-type vortex flowmeter designed on the Karman vortex principle. It measures gas, steam and liquid in industrial pipelines for flow control and metering. Depending on the type, it can also measure temperature and pressure, and provides pulse, 4–20 mA, RS485 and IoT GPRS functions.

2. How does the MIK-LUGB-C work?

A bluff body in the flow generates alternating vortices whose frequency is linear with the actual flow rate. A high-precision probe with a piezoelectric wafer sensor detects the vortices, producing a stable pulse-frequency signal. Because the output is frequency-based, the zero point does not drift.

3. What does "anti-vibration" mean for this flowmeter?

The MIK-LUGB-C is designed as an anti-vibration vortex flowmeter for industrial pipelines where vibration may interfere with the vortex signal, and its circuit uses multiple protection modes for strong adaptability. Please describe the vibration sources at your installation point, such as pumps, compressors or valves, so we can confirm suitability.

4. What media can the MIK-LUGB-C measure?

It measures gas, steam, liquid and other media in industrial pipelines. Please send us your medium and operating conditions for confirmation.

5. What can the MIK-LUGB-C measure besides flow?

Depending on the type, it can measure the temperature, pressure, instantaneous flow and cumulative flow of the medium. Models with temperature and pressure measurement can be used where density changes need to be considered, such as steam and gas.

6. What output and communication options are available?
  • Pulse output
  • 4–20 mA analog output
  • RS485 communication (Modbus RTU)
  • IoT GPRS

Available functions depend on the type; please tell us your requirements.

7. What is the IoT GPRS function used for?

The GPRS option allows flow data to be transmitted wirelessly to a remote platform, which is useful for monitoring distributed measuring points without laying communication cables. Please tell us your data platform and reporting requirements.

8. What pipe sizes are available?

The MIK-LUGB-C is available from DN15 to DN300 for the pipeline type. An insertion type is also available.

9. What structural types are available?

Various structural forms are available, including a pipeline (in-line) type and an insertion-type flow sensor. The insertion type is generally used on larger pipes where an in-line meter would be heavy or costly.

10. How accurate is the MIK-LUGB-C?
  • Liquid: ±1.0%R
  • Gas: ±1.5%R
  • Insertion type: ±2.5%R

%R means percent of reading.

11. What is the range ratio?

The range ratio is 1:8. The measurable range depends on the medium density and meter size; please send us your flow range for sizing.

12. How much pressure loss does it cause?

The pressure loss is small, about 1/4 to 1/2 of that of an orifice flowmeter, making it an energy-saving flowmeter.

13. Can it be installed vertically or at an angle?

Yes. The installation method is flexible: it can be installed horizontally, vertically or inclined at different angles according to the process pipeline on site.

14. What is the protection rating?

The ingress protection rating is IP65. The circuit also uses multiple protection modes with anti-surge design.

15. How much maintenance does it need?

The main body has no moving parts, giving high reliability, long-term stability, a simple structure and easy maintenance.

16. What temperature, pressure rating and power supply are available?

Please tell us your medium temperature, working pressure and available power supply, and our team will confirm a suitable configuration.

17. Can it be used in hazardous (explosive) areas?

Please tell us the area classification of your site before ordering, so our team can confirm whether the MIK-LUGB-C is suitable for your installation.

18. What is the difference between the MIK-LUGB-C and the MIK-LUGB?

The MIK-LUGB-C is the intelligent anti-vibration version. Depending on the type, it integrates temperature and pressure measurement, offers an insertion type option, and supports IoT GPRS. See also the MIK-LUGB without compensation and MIK-LUGB with temperature and pressure compensation.

19. What straight pipe length does it need?

Vortex flowmeters generally need longer straight pipe runs upstream and downstream than many other flowmeter types, depending on upstream fittings such as elbows, reducers and valves. Please follow the installation manual or send us your piping layout.

20. Where is the MIK-LUGB-C typically used?

It is used for flow control and metering of gas, steam and liquid in industrial pipelines, especially where pipeline vibration is present or remote data transmission is needed.

21. What information should I provide to get a quotation?
