  • FAQ

1. What is the Asmik magnetic flow transmitter?

It is a signal converter (transmitter) for electromagnetic flowmeters. It processes the signal from the flow sensor, displays the measurement on an LCD, and provides current, pulse, switch and RS485 outputs. "Simple setting" parameters and intelligent diagnostics make commissioning and maintenance easier.

2. What is the role of the transmitter in an electromagnetic flowmeter?

An electromagnetic flowmeter has a modular structure made up of a measuring sensor and a signal converter. The sensor generates a voltage proportional to flow velocity based on Faraday's law of induction, and the transmitter converts this signal into flow values, displays them and outputs them to control systems.

3. What values can the transmitter show?

It shows instantaneous flow rate and flow velocity. Mass flow can also be displayed when the liquid density is constant.

4. What kind of display does it have?

It has a monochrome liquid crystal display with white backlight and a resolution of 128 × 64 pixels. Two measurement screens are available to show measured values, status and other information.

5. How is the transmitter operated?

It is operated with four keys, available as infrared touch keys or mechanical keys. The "simple setting" menu makes parameter configuration quick and convenient.

6. What display language is available?

The display language is English.

7. Can I change the flow units?

Yes. Flow rate units can be selected through the configuration menu.

8. What outputs are available?
  • Current output: 4–20 mA
  • Pulse / frequency output
  • Switch output
9. What communication interface does it support?

It supports RS485 serial communication for connection to PLC, DCS, SCADA and data acquisition systems. Please tell us the protocol your system requires so we can confirm compatibility.

10. Which parameters can be configured?

You can set the flow sensor diameter, liner material, electrode material and flow coefficient, as well as display units and output settings. This allows the transmitter to be matched to the connected sensor.

11. What diagnostic functions does it have?

Intelligent diagnostics include empty pipe identification and electrode contamination detection, helping users find problems early and reduce downtime.

12. Can it replace the transmitter on my existing flowmeter?

The configurable sensor parameters make the transmitter suitable for many replacement and upgrade projects. Because sensors from different manufacturers can differ in excitation and signal characteristics, please send us the sensor brand, model, size, liner, electrode material and flow coefficient so we can confirm compatibility before ordering.

13. Can it measure mass flow?

Yes, when the liquid density is constant, the transmitter can calculate mass flow from volume flow. For liquids with changing density, or when you need direct mass and density measurement, see our Coriolis mass flowmeters.

14. Can the transmitter housing be customized?

Yes. Asmik supports customized appearance color and surface stickers, which is useful for OEM partners, system integrators and distributors who want the transmitter to match their brand.

15. What power supply, protection rating and mounting options are available?

Please tell us your available power supply, installation environment and mounting method (for example on the sensor or wall mounted), and our team will confirm a suitable configuration.

16. Which flow sensors can it be used with?

It is designed for use with electromagnetic flow sensors. Asmik offers a range of sensors, such as the MIK-LDG Carbon Steel Body, MIK-LDG Stainless Steel Body and MIK-LDG Remote Type. Please contact us to confirm the right combination for your application.

17. How does the transmitter make maintenance easier?

The LCD with clear status information, simple parameter settings and diagnostics for empty pipe and electrode contamination help technicians check the meter status and troubleshoot quickly on site.

18. What information should I provide to get a quotation?

To help us select the correct model, please provide:

  • Connected sensor brand, model and size
  • Sensor liner and electrode materials, and flow coefficient (if replacing an existing transmitter)
  • Required outputs and communication protocol
  • Available power supply
  • Mounting method and installation environment
  • Customization needs (color, stickers)
