  • FAQ

1. What is the MIK-DO7018 optical dissolved oxygen sensor?

The MIK-DO7018 is a digital fluorescent dissolved oxygen (DO) sensor with a titanium body, based on fluorescence lifetime technology and self-developed fluorescent materials. It has a built-in temperature sensor with automatic compensation and a Modbus RS-485 output, so it can be networked without a separate controller.

2. How does fluorescence lifetime technology work?

A fluorescent material on the sensor cap is excited by light and then emits fluorescence. Oxygen molecules shorten the fluorescence lifetime, so the sensor calculates the DO concentration by measuring this lifetime, which provides stable long-term measurement.

3. What are the advantages of the MIK-DO7018?
  • No oxygen consumption and no flow rate limitation
  • No membrane and no electrolyte required
  • No hydrogen sulfide interference
  • Excellent stability and ±1% accuracy
  • Fast 10-second response
  • Built-in temperature sensor with automatic compensation
  • RS-485 output for direct networking
4. What is the measuring range?
  • Dissolved oxygen: 0–20 mg/L or 0–200% saturation
  • Temperature: 0–50 °C
5. How accurate is the MIK-DO7018?
  • DO accuracy: ±1%
  • Temperature accuracy: ±0.2 °C
6. What is the response time?

The response time is 10 seconds.

7. What power supply does it need?

The sensor operates on 6–24 VDC ±5% with a current consumption below 50 mA, which suits low-voltage and battery- or solar-powered monitoring systems.

8. What output does it provide?

It provides Modbus RS-485 communication for direct connection to a PLC, data logger, SCADA system or IoT gateway. Please contact us for the communication settings and register map.

9. How deep can the sensor be installed?

The maximum water depth is 10 m.

10. What is the body material and why titanium?

The body is made of titanium (grade 2). Titanium offers excellent corrosion resistance, which makes the sensor suitable for demanding water such as seawater and aggressive wastewater.

11. What are the connection and protection rating?
  • Process connection: 3/4" NPT
  • Ingress protection: IP68
12. What cable lengths are available?

A 10 m cable is standard, and 5 m, 15 m and 30 m cables are optional.

13. Does it need calibration?

The fluorescence lifetime design greatly reduces calibration needs. When required, one-point and two-point calibrations are supported. Periodic checks against a reference are recommended.

14. How long does the fluorescent cap last, and what maintenance is needed?

The fluorescent cap lasts about one year under normal use. No membrane or electrolyte replacement is needed; routine maintenance consists of cleaning the cap and replacing it about once a year.

15. How is the MIK-DO7018 different from the MIK-DO7019?
  • MIK-DO7018: accuracy ±1%; response 10 s; titanium body; 3/4" NPT; 6–24 VDC; temperature accuracy ±0.2 °C.
  • MIK-DO7019: accuracy ±3% FS; response 60 s; SS316L/titanium alloy/POM; M22×1.5 thread; 9–24 VDC; temperature accuracy ±0.5 °C.
16. What can the MIK-DO7018 be connected to?

It can be networked directly with any Modbus RS-485 master. For local display and relay outputs, it can be used with the MIK-DC2000 controller for Asmik digital sensors; please confirm compatibility with us.

17. Where is the MIK-DO7018 used?

Typical applications include aquaculture, wastewater treatment, environmental water monitoring and seawater applications, where accurate DO data is essential for water quality and the safety of aquatic life.

18. What information should I provide to get a quotation?
